This month I am going to share by beauty/makeup favorites with you but I’m also going to share some of my lifestyle and general favorites as well! How fun, right? Let’s start off with makeup, though, duh.
August Makeup Favorites
This month I’ve been keeping it fresh and super simple…again, summer ya’ll. I’ve been sticking to a one color cream shadow, mainly my e.l.f. smudge pot in Cruisin Chic (which is stunning) and some mascara. Currently, I’m trying to use up my mascara samples of Milk Ubame Mascara and Tarte Tartiest mascara. So far I like them both but prefer the Milk formula and brush. I’ve been adding Swerve eyeliner by ColourPop and BAM, my look is done!
My other non-full face essential has been concealer. I have NO idea why but my chin has been breaking out like a french fry eating teenager lately. Honestly, I think I had a reaction to a foundation I was using, but ugh, still. Going full blown no face makeup hasn’t worked for me so I’ve been using my Cargo One Base Concealer in Shade 2 to cover up my texture and redness. I got a sample of this a little while ago and it is marketed as a concealer that can work as a foundation as well, and I can see why. The coverage is great and I’ve really enjoyed using it.
Of course, this means that I’ve been a little lax in using my project pan and pan that palette items, but that’s an update for a later time. Which, by the way, will be updated on the Nobody’s Beauty Guru YouTube channel and not through a blog post. Honestly, you’re going to be seeing a lot more video content and fewer posts here but don’t fret, I’ll still be around!
Speaking of YouTube…
I’ve always been obsessed with makeup videos on YouTube but lately I’ve fallen into a BookTube hole and I have no intentions of getting out. Essentially BookTube is a bunch of book vloggers who review, haul, and chat about upcoming books. I die! I cannot stop watching and jotting down books on my To Read list. In fact I just placed an order for over 2 dozen books from some discount book sale sites that I have found through these amazing (mostly) ladies.
Needless to say, I’ve been reading up a storm lately. I have rediscovered the joy of reading since the closing of The Indie Chicks. Turns out that reading dozens of article submissions a week and constantly having eye strain really killed my desire to read for fun but I’m so happy it is back!
That said, I will be turning my personal website JulieZantopoulos.com and YouTube channel Pages and Pens into a book review, haul, and discussion website. I am accepting books for review (honest reviews only of course) and aim to help indie and mainstream authors alike by exposing them to new readers. If you are interested please head over to my YouTube, subscribe and add my website to your feed. It will take a little while to get up and running but I’m SUPER RIDICULOUSLY excited about this!
Thanks for all those who have visited the makeup channel and watched, shared and commented on the videos. I’m having SO much fun creating them for you. I cannot wait to see where the channel and this site take us together.
